Valera Childers
Valera has been a practicing witch for the past 15 years. She was raised in San Diego, California, where she currently resides with her husband, Alan, and their son. She also has 3 other amazing children from her first marriage as well as a step-son.
Valera’s path includes practices from several traditions including bruja, curandera, nahualli , Apache and alchemist. She has melded what she has learned from them to create a spirituality that works for her. She stays connected to Spirit through constant study, daily practices and being aware of All That Is around her. She is an avid reader, does her best to reduce her impact on the Earth and teaches her children to be responsible, creative and adventurous souls. She is currently studying to receive her Master Herbalist certificate and will be able to use that information to help those in her family, community and beyond.
She has an innate ability to connect to Spirit and those with whom she invites into her life experience. When she creates an environment of acceptance and understanding she enables her clients and students to connect with their own true selves and All That Is. She forms a space for others to release the body-mind connection, facilitates the balancing of the masculine/feminine energies and the re-sacredizing of Life. When performing cleansings, soul retrievals or simply talking with her clients, she provides a safe place for the release of energies that are no longer in the best interest of her client and a healing space for acceptance and growth.
Valera is an accomplished kitchen alchemist and serves her community by providing herbs, oils and other healing mixtures. She believes that in order for our Spirit and Soul to be whole, the body must be healthy enough to house them. Caring for and healing the entire Self, or attaining The Essence of the Four Movements (correct proportions of human, family, community and spiritual life) is her goal. She believes that if we are not healthy, we cannot do anything but simply survive.
She is an ordained Priestess and a Reiki Master in the tradition of Diane Stein and a level two Blue Fire Reiki practioner. In her healing practice she combines her Reiki skills with her gift for balancing the chakras, providing the receiver with a sense of balance and wholeness. She is a professional tarot reader and channel and delivers insightful and beneficial information to her clients.
As President of San Diego Pagan Pride from 2006 to 2010, she feels that the experience gave her not only a better understanding of human nature, but a better appreciation for others’ paths as well.
