Tribal fusion is a snake-like, grounded, and ever changing style of belly dance that is influenced by different forms of dance from around the world. Maureen has been performing in this style for the past three years around San Diego at places and events such as the Egyptian Tea Room, Claire de Lune, Portugalia, The Ruby Room, the Celebrate Dance Festival, and the Sameda Fair. With jazz and blues influences from her hometown of Chicago and the sass she has developed since becoming a burlesque performer she has truly developed a style that is all her own. Join her each week at the Village Witch to learn basic drills, combos, and bits of choreography. Belly dance is gentle on the body and joints, will tone your core, strengthen your posture, make you more flexible, and is even safe for pregnant women.
The class is open to men and women of any size, shape, and experience of dance. This class will not follow a strict outline but rather adjust to the experience of the students, allowing everyone to join whenever they would like.
