Lisa "Bear Rock Curing Magician" Starr

“Move through life with your heart open to possibilities. The movement is the Journey, the destination is Love.”

Lisa’s diverse work began as an artist designing Pre-Colombian Art Designs for several years. She then put her Child Development degree to use as a caregiver for toddlers and preschoolers and eventually administrated programs working with elementary school age children. When she became a full-time mother 14 years ago, she became proficient in the study and use of homeopathic medicine and dedicated her daily living to meditation and Yoga in a self-study practice. This led her to begin her formal training in the healing arts in 1999 at the Natural Healing Institute. There she obtained certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner, completing 1,000 hours of training, which included Clinical Nutrition, Shamanic Practicum, Massage and Thai Massage Therapies. Lisa continued her Shamanic studies attending Huichol ceremonies with Brant Secunda and Shamanic camps with Jade Wahoo. In 2006 she completed 200 hours Yoga teacher training in Kinepathics, an integration of stillness, energy, and emotion.

During Lisa’s Shamanic Practicum, she was introduced to and apprenticed with a local Mayan Indian and drum maker, Vern. She continued her drum making training with Jade Wahoo Grigori, Stan Seacrest, and Yolanda Martinez.

Lisa is currently apprenticing with Maria Yraceburu in the tradition of Quero Apache Tlish Diyan and is soon to be certified as an Earth Life Counselor for the Church of EarthWisdom. She is also training to become a tour guide for Medicine Walks and the Llama Human Resonance Program for Following Ancestors. Today Lisa lives as a modern day Quero Apache practicing daily rituals nurturing relationships with Earth Mother and Sky Father and cultivating conscious awareness for future generations. In her Spiritual Healing practice she draws from her Shamanic experiences and Tlish Diyan philosophies to offer wisdom and presence. As an Artist Drum Maker she offers drum making workshops for creative expression. Lisa also offers Thai Massage Therapy, where she combines her intuition and training, providing her clients with insightful and healing massage. Lisa currently participates in Earth Renewal Ceremonies throughout the country, and eventually abroad.

Lisa is a proud and loving Mother to her two daughters, Alexandra and Sivana and to Padome, a Chilean llama. She has been serving her community in the healing arts for over 5 years.
