The way I see it: Divinity
By Alan "Blue Sage" Childers
I believe that every person is part of a “collective unconscious.” Through actions and thoughts, dreams and desires, the fabric of consciousness is born. Through the interaction of these individual elements the collective takes on an intelligence, or spirit, of its own—much like an embryo develops a consciousness as the cells divide and grow. The individual cell has no thought, but grouped as a whole they gain purpose and self-awareness.
This collective unconscious, what I call Divinity, is not a higher being per se, but a unification of every thing that is around us that has grown beyond its boundaries. Each person contributes to the whole. Therefore a person is described as being a part of the Divine by being an extension of whole, just as an arm is part of the body.
The God/Goddess images are but two facets of this entity. Each being has both male and female aspects that make up that individual. In some the masculine aspect holds sway. In others it is the feminine. Both are present and show at different times, but one is more pronounced resulting in the split of gender. This split plays a necessary role in the development of all aspects of life. It provides us with a goal, to become balanced in our spirit and body. We are forced to realize that we have two halves that are to be brought together to aid us in our quest for knowledge.
To develop the opposite facets of ourselves leads us to a greater understanding of our strengths. As we come closer to a balanced state, we are able to tap into the thought stream of the Divine. This in turn enables us to continue on our path of discovery. The end goal is to be on par with this Divine entity, therefore achieving enlightenment, or greater consciousness.
The Divine is an essential part of our learning process. Through it we can achieve great things that we believe are outside the scope of the ordinary and mundane. It provides us with the inspiration and drive to accomplish the things we thought were beyond us. In the end it shows us that we are indeed Divine, and that our path of self-discovery is truly the path to enlightenment—whatever that path may be.
